We worship on Sundays at 10:30 am from the second Sunday of September through June. In the summer, worship is Sundays at 9:30 am July through Labor Day weekend.
Worship is the heart of our church life. Every Sunday morning, friends, neighbors, visitors and members join together in song and prayer to connect with God. Each week from September through Father's Day, the choir sings an anthem for congregational reflection and meditation. The congregation raises their voices in hymns and praise songs from our books The Presbyterian Hymnal and Sing the Faith. We celebrate the sacrament of Communion on the first Sunday of each month. Each of us is a child of God, and in that light, we include all worshipers to come to the Lord's Supper, and to fully participate in all activities of the church, including holding office. Children are embraced in our worship services. There is a special children's meditation each Sunday morning, where our youngest members sit on the altar steps with Pastor Tom and participate in a short lesson. The lesson culminates in a hand-holding prayer with a resounding, "A-men!" at the end.
On Christmas Eve, we meet at 7:00 pm for a candlelight service, culminating with a heart-warming "Silent Night" peace. On Palm Sunday, palm branches are distributed for weaving into crosses. On the holiest of days, Easter Sunday, we gather to celebrate the risen Christ.
There is a nursery stocked with toys and books for our youngest members.
All people are welcome at First Presbyterian Church of Holley.
What to Expect on Sunday Morning
The Holley Presbyterian Church welcomes people in all the shapes, sizes and situations in which God has made us. Our welcome mat is rolled out for you every Sunday of the year and for all other programs throughout the year. Dress however you are comfortable to worship God. There is no dress code.
When you enter the church, you will be greeted by an usher, handing you a bulletin that tells the order of the worship service. We may use either or both of the hymn books in the pews. The larger one is The Presbyterian Hymnal; the small one is called Sing the Faith. Prayers and readings are printed in the bulletin for you to follow. This is the Lord's Prayer that will be recited during our service.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
The sacrament of Holy Communion, The Lord's Supper, is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month, year-round. Communion is served by intinction, with each person dipping the bread into the juice.
